Frequently Asked Questions
Does VoltSyncra require internet access to read nearby Bluetooth devices?
Nearby BLE telemetry is local, but account sign-in, entitlement checks, and other server-backed features require internet access.
Does VoltSyncra configure my chargers, shunts, batteries, or inverters?
The monitoring architecture is intended to be read-only wherever practical. Normal telemetry should not change equipment settings. Protocols that require a request packet should be limited to known telemetry requests.
Why can the manufacturer's app see a device when VoltSyncra cannot connect?
Manufacturers may use private protocols, firmware-specific behavior, or exclusive BLE connections. Confirm the exact model and firmware and close the manufacturer's app before testing VoltSyncra.
Why does a device show up but say unsupported?
BLE discovery and telemetry decoding are separate steps. VoltSyncra may see an advertisement from equipment for which a reliable decoder has not yet been implemented.
Can I use several identical devices?
Yes. Give them physical names that make sense in your installation, such as Port MPPT, Starboard MPPT, House Shunt, or Starter Battery.
What is the best reference for a whole battery bank?
A properly configured shunt is usually the best source for total current and consumed amp-hours because it measures the current entering and leaving the bank as a whole. Individual battery BMS readings remain useful for identifying imbalance.
Should I delete and re-register a device when it fails once?
Usually no. Capture diagnostics first. Temporary BLE timeouts can occur, and deleting the registration may remove information useful for reproducing the problem.
Where should I start when asking for support?
Start with Diagnostics & Support and include the exact device model, firmware, platform, error details, and what the manufacturer's application shows.
