Getting Started
This guide takes you from first launch to a useful, verified VoltSyncra dashboard.
1. Before you begin
Make sure Bluetooth is enabled and that the equipment you want to monitor is powered on. Stay reasonably close to the devices during initial setup. Bluetooth performance can be reduced by metal battery compartments, engine rooms, electrical panels, and other obstructions.
2. Sign in
Sign in with your VoltSyncra account. The server manages account identity, trial or entitlement information, and device activation. If sign-in fails, first confirm that the device has internet access and that your credentials are correct.
3. Scan for devices
Use Scan for devices from the main application. Leave the scan running long enough for nearby Bluetooth Low Energy equipment to advertise. Some devices advertise frequently; others may appear more slowly.
VoltSyncra may identify a device from its name, manufacturer information, advertised services, or a supported protocol. An unknown device can still appear in the scan list even when VoltSyncra does not yet know how to decode its live data.
4. Register the equipment you want to monitor
Give each device a useful name such as House SmartShunt, Port Solar MPPT, or House Battery 1. A clear physical name makes troubleshooting much easier later.
If a supported device requires a PIN or another credential, VoltSyncra will ask for it during registration or device setup. Do not enter a PUK unless a feature specifically asks for a PUK; a PUK normally exists to recover or reset access rather than for routine monitoring.
5. Verify your first readings
For a newly added device, compare a few values with the manufacturer's application or display:
- Voltage should be very close.
- Current should have the same direction and similar magnitude.
- State of charge should be reasonable for the system.
- Power should agree with voltage × current within normal rounding differences.
If a value is clearly wrong, do not assume the equipment is faulty. Capture diagnostics and compare the raw device reading before relying on the displayed value.
6. Build a useful dashboard
Register the devices that describe the whole electrical system, not just individual batteries. A typical marine or off-grid installation may include a shunt, solar charge controller, inverter/charger, DC-DC charger, and one or more batteries.
